Luxx Lighting

Luxx Lighting builds LED fixtures the slow way. Before the 645 Pro was released, Luxx spent over three years running SMD chips and drivers from different manufacturers through controlled tests and working cultivation facilities. The diode combination in the finished fixture came out of that testing rather than off a spec sheet.

The Luxx 645W LED Pro is the flagship. Six bars, 2,226 diodes, horticultural whites paired with Osram reds at a 120 degree lens angle, covering a 4x4 to 5x5ft footprint. It dims in fixed steps at 40, 50, 60, 80 and 100 percent without shifting the spectrum ratio, which is where cheaper dimmable fixtures fall down. Passive cooling means no fan, so there's one less part to fail. It's ETL listed, ships plug and play with an Australian cord, and carries a 5 year warranty.

If your canopy doesn't match a fixed fixture size, the Luxx 200W LED Bar 80R lets you build the array instead. Run one bar for a small footprint or five for 1000W total, using the same block each time. The 80R spectrum runs maximum red content with a blue-green balance for plant structure. Worth knowing before you order: power cords, connectors, splitters and the mounting bracket are all sold separately, so budget for a bracket kit and a cord alongside the bars.

For propagation, the Luxx Clone Bar 18W is a direct T5 replacement at roughly 60 percent less power. It runs Samsung diodes at 9000K, which keeps clones compact instead of stretched, and the whole thing is waterproof, housing and connectors included. T5 setups aren't, which matters around a clone dome. Up to 100 strips daisy chain off a single 20 amp circuit.

Running more than a couple of fixtures, the Luxx NX-1 Controller handles up to 80 ballasts across two outputs. Two temperature sensors mean you can run a flower room and a veg room on different cycles from one unit. It auto-dims and can shut fixtures down at a temperature you set, which is a real backstop if a fan dies during a heatwave rather than a convenience feature.

Not sure how much light your space actually needs? Our guide on how much PPFD you need covers target ranges by growth stage. If you're coming off HPS, the HPS to LED transition guide covers what changes in your room, and running costs has the numbers on what the switch saves. Already running a new fixture and seeing bleaching at the top of the canopy, or plants stretching toward the light? That's usually height or intensity rather than a nutrient problem, and the two look similar. PlantMDx will narrow it down in about a minute. Free, no signup.

Frequently Asked Questions

What size tent does the Luxx 645W Pro cover?
Roughly 4x4 to 5x5ft, depending on your target PPFD and hanging height. Hung closer it suits the smaller end, raised higher for more even spread it covers the larger end.

Does dimming a Luxx fixture change the spectrum?
No. The 645 Pro holds its spectrum ratio across all five dimming steps. That's the point of the fixed-step design, and it's what lets you run one fixture from propagation through flower.

How many 200W bars do I need?
One bar suits a small footprint, four to five gets you 800 to 1000W for a larger canopy. Build the array to your space rather than working to a fixed ratio. Remember the bracket and cords are separate.

Can the Clone Bar really replace my T5 tubes?
Yes, it's built as a direct swap. Same job at roughly 60 percent less power, rated for 54,000 hours, and waterproof, which T5 tube setups generally aren't.

Which Luxx products ship free?
The 200W LED Bar qualifies for free shipping to VIC, NSW, QLD, SA and ACT on orders over $350. The 645W Pro is 14kg, which puts it over the 12kg free shipping cap, so freight is calculated at checkout. The Clone Bar and NX-1 depend on your total order value and weight.
