CYCO Potash Plus

CYCO Potash Plus is a Platinum Series additive weighted toward potassium, used through the first half of flower to strengthen plant structure, regulate water, and start moving sugars out of the leaves and into developing flowers.

Potash Plus or Swell, and Why Not Both

These two get confused constantly, so here's the plain version. Both are PK additives. The difference is which way the ratio leans and when in flower you run them.

Potash Plus is 0-4-6. More potassium than phosphorus, and it runs early in flower, roughly weeks 1 to 4.

Swell is 1-5-3. More phosphorus than potassium, and it runs late, roughly weeks 5 to 7, once flowers have set and the job shifts to filling them out.

Worth being straight about one thing. Potash Plus is not a phosphorus-free potassium product, and anyone telling you it is hasn't read the label. It carries 4% phosphate. What sets it apart from a typical bloom booster is that the ratio leans toward potassium rather than away from it, and the concentration is far gentler. Compare 0-4-6 against a bloom booster running 0-50-30 and the difference in phosphorus load is obvious.

CYCO's own label on both bottles says not to use them in conjunction. That's a dosing warning, not a chemistry one. Run both in the same reservoir and you're stacking two PK products on top of the PK already in your base nutrient, which pushes phosphorus past what the plant can use. Excess phosphorus competes with iron and zinc uptake, which is a common way growers end up chasing an iron deficiency in late flower that started as overfeeding.

Why the Sulphate Form Matters

Potassium comes in two common forms in fertiliser. Chloride based potassium is cheaper and appears in a lot of budget products, but chloride adds salt load to your reservoir without contributing anything the plant needs. In a recirculating system where the solution sits for a week or more, that accumulates.

Potash Plus is derived from potassium sulfate and monopotassium phosphate, so there's no chloride, and the sulphur it carries is a nutrient in its own right. Sulphur is one of the more commonly missed elements in hydroponics because most Cal-Mag products contain none, and a sulphur shortage looks almost identical to a nitrogen shortage except that it shows on new growth rather than old. What Potassium Actually Does

• Moves sugars into the flowers. Potassium drives phloem transport, the plant's internal delivery system. Without enough of it, sugars produced in the leaves stay in the leaves.
• Regulates water. Potassium controls stomatal opening, which governs how the plant manages water and gas exchange. Better regulation means better resilience through heat and higher transpiration demand.
• Builds structure. Sturdier stems and stronger cell walls to carry heavier flowers without lodging.
• Balances nitrate uptake. Helps keep other nutrients in a form the plant can use rather than sitting unused in the reservoir.

How and When to Use

Run Potash Plus through the first half of flower as part of your normal feed, alongside your base nutrient. Stop it when you switch to Swell, rather than running the two together.

Watch total EC when you add it, since it contributes to the number and pushing your feed too high in flower causes more problems than a potassium shortage would.

If your leaves are showing burnt or scorched margins on the older lower leaves, check EC before reaching for this. Margin burn is potassium shortage in some cases and nutrient burn from overfeeding in others, and the two need opposite corrections. Can I use CYCO Potash Plus and Swell together?

No. Both bottles carry a label warning against using them in conjunction. They're also built for different weeks, Potash Plus for weeks 1 to 4 of flower and Swell for weeks 5 to 7. Run them in sequence instead.

Potash Plus leans the other way, so you can lift potassium with far less phosphorus coming along with it.
