Every time you water, a small amount of calcium, magnesium, iron and other metals stays in the medium rather than going into the plant. Over a cycle that accumulates, and once it does the plant can show a deficiency while sitting in a perfectly mixed reservoir, because the root zone chemistry is no longer letting it take anything up. Kleanse dissolves those deposits so they flush out with your normal watering.

Kleanse or Zyme, and Why You Might Run Both

Both get described as cleaning the root zone, which is true and useless, because they clean two completely different kinds of mess.

Kleanse deals with mineral salts. Calcium, magnesium, iron and other cations from your nutrient. It works chemically, using citric acid to dissolve those deposits.
