What It Does

Xtreme Gardening Azos is a nitrogen-fixing bacteria, Azospirillum brasilense, that takes atmospheric nitrogen and converts it into a form the plant can use, directly at the root zone.

The practical difference from a mineral nitrogen feed is that nothing accumulates. Mineral nitrogen arrives as a salt and leaves residue behind. Azos produces nitrogen biologically as the plant needs it, so there is no buildup to flush and no overfeeding risk from the nitrogen side.

What It Actually Does

• Fixes atmospheric nitrogen. Converts N₂ from the air into plant-available nitrogen at the roots, reducing how much you need to add through the feed.
• Triggers rooting on cuttings. Stimulates the plant's own production of indole-3-acetic acid, a natural rooting hormone. This is the reason it is used at the cloning stage rather than just in veg.
• Improves uptake efficiency. An active root zone absorbs what you feed it more effectively, which shows up as fewer minor deficiencies through veg.
• Keeps working. Unlike a one-off feed, it establishes in the root zone and continues producing through the vegetative stage.
• Works across systems. Non-sterile recirculating hydroponics, coco coir and soil. Runs alongside your existing feed rather than replacing it.

Why Biological Nitrogen Behaves Differently

A mineral nitrogen fertiliser delivers a dose and leaves salt behind. Over a cycle that accumulates, which is what a flush is for.

Azos is a living inoculant. It establishes in the root zone and supplies nitrogen steadily through the vegetative stage. It does not replace your base feed, and it is not a substitute for getting EC right. What it does is provide a nitrogen source that does not add to salt load.

How to Use It

• Cuttings: Dip rooting cubes or pre-soak in an Azos solution before striking

• Do not use with: Hydrogen peroxide, chlorine or strong sterilising agents, all of which kill it

How do I apply Azos correctly?

Apply it directly to the root zone or growing medium at transplant, or when introducing it to a new system. It mixes into water as a drench or root soak. Use dechlorinated, pH-adjusted water, since chlorine kills the bacteria before they establish.

Will it survive in my nutrient program?

Do not mix it directly with concentrated nutrients, pesticides or fungicides. Apply it separately, or mix it into the medium. Most mineral nutrients at normal working strength are fine once diluted in the reservoir.

Does this replace my nitrogen feed?

No. It supplements it. Azos supplies nitrogen biologically alongside your base nutrient, which means less reliance on mineral nitrogen and less salt accumulation, but it is not a full replacement for a base feed.

Why use it on cuttings if it is a nitrogen product?

Because it does two things. Alongside nitrogen fixing, it stimulates the plant's own rooting hormone production, which is what makes it useful at the cloning stage before there is much of a root system to feed.

What is the shelf life?

It is a living organism, so shelf life is limited once opened. Store cool and dark, away from heat and direct sunlight. Refrigeration extends it considerably, but do not freeze. Use opened product within 6 to 12 months.
